I talked about not long ago
and it happened!
France has approved the law decree No. 71 2015-125
and formalized the implementation which provides special powers to the police.
So now the police in that country can be allowed to implement censorship online in 24 hours.
After each quarter there will be a review of interventions to allow site managers to intervene and become visible again.
To underline that in fact in the case of server residing abroad (like me for example) providers can only proceed with the blackout - avoidable as we all know by tackling DNS.
In Italy (still, and I hope for as long as possible) such action would contravene several constitutional principles (Art.15, Art.21), and of course the concept of the tripartite division of powers. And also, fortunately, by us an ordinary law does not suffice (but it would need a Constitutional Revision) to introduce such a thing.
Happy to be Italian.
But, how come no one is shocked by this? Is it normal for everyone to see some freedom taken away for the greater good and be ok with that?
I say this smell fishy.
